Inforest Communications was approached by Artworks Trenton in 2020 to create a online gallery for their annual Art All Night event which was forced into becoming a “virtual” event due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Art All Night is a community art event where anyone can submit one piece of art to be displayed at a 24 hour showing. Inforest developed a website to accept online submissions by the public and created an online gallery of over 700 pieces, as well as provided a animated slideshow that was part of a video stream for music and other presentations.

Later, Inforest provided a similar system for Artworks’ 10×10 exhibition which added the ability to purchase artwork through the gallery. The 10×10 show was a hybrid event, but with limited gallery capacity due to social distancing. However, the event was the most successful 10×10 show up to that point and it helped to alleviate bottlenecks and purchasing disputes while ensuring that people had an equal opportunity to purchase art they wanted, even though they could not visit in person.

In addition to Artworks, Inforest developed galleries for YWCA Princeton, the ERO Foundation in Colorado and the New Jersey Senior Art Show.

What is your process with setting up the The View-C.art service?

Confirmation and setup of any additional fields used to describe a piece of artwork. In addition to the title, artist and picture of the artwork, additional fields typically include medium, dimensions, artist website and price
Setup of the View-C.art gallery website to these specifications and customization of site pages to match the branding of the event or parent organization. Integration with a payment gateway, such as PayPal, is setup.
Submission/upload of pieces to the website, typically by the artist themselves. View-C.art does not handle intake of the physical artwork.
Review, further classification and approval by the curator of the exhibition. Tools are provided for exporting gallery data as necessary. A tool for printing labels for artwork is under development.
Launch of the online gallery often coincides with the physical opening and reception. The gallery can be searched as well as filtered by category.
A physical label accompanying the artwork is planned to include a QR code that can be scanned to bring up a webpage about the piece, including a link to purchase.
Purchase of artwork is performed on the website. A buyer clicks to purchase a piece and pays through the gateway. The piece is marked pending for a period in order to prevent duplicate purchases.
Gallery managers can view a real-time sales report which helps if they physically mark the labels of artwork as it is sold.
On completion of the exhibition, a static archive of the gallery can be provided.
